Where's the best place to live in Spain?

Where is the best place to live in Spain which combines:
1) A generally good climate
2) Unspoilt areas of natural beauty
3) A spanish feel rather than a british one
4) A good and healthy lifestyle?

Any ideas?

Read the book "Driving over lemons" written by Chris Stewart. He was the former drummer of a group called Genesis. He moved to a town called "Orgiva" in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, It has everything you´ve listed in your question.

I'm Spanish, so I hope this helps!
I live in Costa del Sol, but this is just the opposite of what you want, so I'm not going to recommend you to come here as I know you won't like it! lol!
I would recommend a place i love! It is called Conil, it is a tiny town in the Coast. It belongs to Cadiz and it is not far away from Jerez ( where there is an airport) and from Gibraltar. The beaches there are just amazing!! fair and soft sand, vasts amounts of sand to play sports, to do some jogging in the morning ( in Costa del Sol we almost have no sand and the beaches are packed) , lovely sea, great weather! The town is tiny and quiet but in case you ever need to go to a bigger place as I said Gibraltar and Jerez are not far way, and Tarifa is also close ( great place to practise surf). I tend to go there on hols and I find it charming, so close to Costa del Sol and at the same time so different. When I go there I stay at a nice Hotel Spa where you can get massages and all the facilities you may need in case you decide to move to that area. This town is tiny, it has like an old area with old and tiny Andalusian style houses but the town is growing and now near La Fontanilla Beach some nice and big group of houses are being built. I hope this helps! Best of luck if you end up moving here!

That depends on whether you need a job, speak spanish etc. I live in La Linea which is right down the South. Most people work across the border in Gibraltar for British type wages and live in Spain for Spanish cost of living. I would recommend a small village near the south coast so you would only have to travel a short distance to the main English speaking towns. Rhonda is a beautiful part of Spain, good climate and all you ask for, but it's also only an hour or so drive away from Gibraltar so you can still do your english shopping if you need to or if you get a bit home sick.

The best...I'm from the north of Spain, and I dont like the south of spain to live( too hot, and more dangerous than the north ). In the north, there are so many kinds of cities. San Sebastian, Bilbao, Oviedo or la coruña, But all of this cities have the same climate than London( raining ). You can also go to Barcelona, or Madrid, or Valencia...there have a good lifestyle, and that cities are big, and so beautiful

I'll choose between Cadiz and Malaga.

I would suggest the Extremadura area. It is far enough south to get a warmer climate, but not far enough to get the tourist-take over feeling. Lots of ppl seem to be suggesting coastal areas, but you didn't mention that was a "must" for you. There area also more British in the south.

outside of malaga in southern spain are the small mountain villages of the sierra nevada....mountain views, complimentary tapas w/ local wines, local hams, wonderful restaurants/bars, horseriding & hiking
