I have been here for 25 years, Costa del Sol, wouldn't move for the world....................OK we have lots of Brits all along the costa also inland, but the majority are retired, - business folks, run their own businesses here, or just folks who have come over to get away from a UK which has gone to pot! we have an excellent health system, good weather, cheaper food and of course the plonk, cars are cheaper to run, houses, well you can still get more for your money than in the UK and probably just that little bit more luxurious for the price also. have I sold the costa to you yet?? |

I'm not sure, but I remember hearing that the island of Tenerife had 20000 Brits living there, and that was quite a few years back. |

Loads on the costa blanca but then again there is loads of other nationalities too, Best advice is to come over and have a look, spend some time here and do not rush into everything, it may be great for a holiday but do not come over thinking that it is all easy there are hoops of paperwork to go through and work is not easy to get, if you are thinking of setting up alone get registered with the tax system and you are expecting to pay a set ammount autonamo which is similar to ni credits in uk costa blanca pays around 250 per self employed person per month although the whole family can go on this, and then you have your quarterly tax contact me for proper info as this is just quick notes, the thing is you do need to do your research as many people do not and end up back in their home country with nothing. |

I am not sure where st go , but I was in Benidorm a few years back and it was all British...the whole coast, Costa Blanca, I believe, was all British..to escape the Brits, I was in Spain to be with the Spanish...I had to go about two miles inland... |

The most heavily populated area is between Torrevieja, Orihuela Costa and Cartagena. You will be lucky to find any Spanish there.
As some have said also the Costa del Sol, anywhere from Malaga to Sotogrande.
To Arty outlook; When you mention Spain was discovered for tourism. The Spanish did that deliberately. The Costa Del Sol wasn't always called that, they changed what it was originally called to encourage tourism. It was once called "Costa De La Viento" That is "The Windy Coast". |

not sure. I must say British people are pretty cool. I just can't believe all the damn Africans taking over Spain! I'm American (my parents are from San Paolo, Spain). I've been to Spain numerous times and all these damn Africans are coming over and ruining it! British are awesome. I hope more visit Spain, instead of the black plague. |

Javea, Costa Blanca, Alicante;Tenerife; Benidorm; Costa Del Sol; Torremolinos; Alicante.
Oh God, those places are so tacky. They make me want to vomit. Christ, British holidaymakers have ruined some parts of Spain (some mentioned above). Spain's got so many parts that are tawdry and vulgar, whereas it needn't be that way. I find it distasteful and disgraceful! (Nice use of assonance, not to mention alliteration!) Spain used to be nice, until it was "discovered" as a sunny holiday destination. Oh sure, it sent the Spanish economy shooting up a little, but the pollution, the commoners: Grotesque! Not for me, I'm afraid, but you and your family can do as they wish, and I'm no one to judge! Good luck! (He he!) Heck, why not live in the TOURISTY parts of Majorca?! |
