Where are the best places in Spain to visit I'm kind of on a budget? |
I work for the airlines so I fly non-rev meaning on stan-by so that part is taken care of but I still know it can get expensive so what is the best way of seeing Spain and still be on a bugdet should I stay at hostils and get a rail pass or stay at cheap hotels which are like I am guessing 50 bucks a night so I can shower snd stuff plus I would like to visit either Los Palmas or either Palma de mallorca or Ibiza. I also heard that Barcelona is a must to see and Valencia as well as Sevilla can anyone help? |

As far as I am aware, there is 1 high speed train in Spain, it runs between Madrid and Sevilla--built for the Olympics held there awhile back. Sevilla is really nice and you can get a really good sense of Spanish culture in Sevilla. So that excursion can be efficient and inexpensive. Don't be intimidated by intracountry flights either--can SOMETIMES be picked up cheaply. Barcelona is truly extraordinary. Palma de Mallorca does have nice beaches and a neat interior for exploring. I stayed mostly in hotels because there was usually ample, inexpensive lodging available. Have fun! |

Travel to Spain Barcelona as it now has every leisure and sports facility possible since 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Most visitors stay in or near the Ramblas or in the Gothic Quarter just to the east. This is a good base from where you can explore the city's sights by day including Gaudi's masterpiece, the unfinished Sagrada FamÃlia Cathedral, and Parc Güell in the north. See http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/barcelo... for more details. |

If you can stay at hostels or pensions they can be pretty cheap to stay in, and they are really not bad at all. |

Get outside of the cities and major tourist hubs - prices will be cheaper. There are still some pretty interesting sights that are worth almost any price in my opinion, especially seeing the Alhambra in Granada, checking out the Prado in Madrid (it's free on Sundays!), checking out the architecture in Barcelona, trying the food in San Sebastian, Seville's nightlife, and the culture in Cordoba. And oh, Toledo is pretty cool as well - it's about an hour from Madrid, visiting Toledo feels like going back in time. |

One of the best ways to get around between cities is by public bus. You'll be surprised at how cheap it is. If you are within city limits, either take the bus or the extremely cheap subway system. In Malaga, for instance, the subway from the airport has laser signs that have destinations in Spanish, English, French, etc. There is also an announcement of the destination in these different languages. In addition, many businesses and road signs are in more than one language, too. Get yourself a good map of whatever area you plan on going to, because it will come in very handy. Hostels are cheap, but have thieves who are always on the lookout for a lonely backpack. Spaniards eat a lot of bread and have the best olive oil in the world to go with it. Be prepared to enjoy yourself! |
