As the other answerer said: El Corte Inglés would be a good choice.
It is a major Department Store throughout the major cities in Spain.
Price wise it is hard to give you an accurate guide as, like everything, there is a top and bottom end - but on average (excluding real designer ranges) 150 - 200€ would be a good guide. It stocks Spanish lines as well as international.
There are however many smaller, privately owned boutiques offering wonderfully unusual dresses which are European styled and would hopefully be a little different (mean that in a positive way - love shopping for clothes in the US!) from what you are usually able to buy!
Either way, I am sure you will be able to find something special.
Good luck!
PS: you may find the Spanish sizes a little on the small size, so don't feel bad if you have to try on the next size up! |

Okay well I have to admit I'm not the biggest expert on prom dress shopping in Spain... but she'd probably have the best luck finding one in Madrid, Toledo, or Granada. Sevilla... maybe. I'm really not familiar with Portugal at all, aside from Lisbon, where I don't think she'd have much luck. The prices... well, like here in the U.S. it depends on the store. She could check out El Corte Inglés... it's the department store that they have all over Spain. I'd say probably equivalent to like Macy's or Dillards in quality/price range/etc. Maybe a little more expensive because it would be in Euros. She should definitely check out some of the very small boutiques, especially in Toledo, too, though. Wish her luck :) Spain is amazing I know she'll have a great time. |

Corte Inglés is the big department store. There are shops everywhere.
She can even look at the catalog right here:
http://www.elcorteingles.es/tiendas/portal/site/ECI/menuitem.9e6c1e5bbc7eb2ad14f027c0d2432ea0/?_atreb_=_otsenre_&ecichannel=ElCorteIngles.ECI-MODA.Marcas&ecic=1&ecis=225&ecip=602&ecitt=MTDV
Or, there are bridal shops at, like, every corner in the neighborhoods where the ordinary people shop. You could ask at the hotel. They should be able to help you.
One pointer...you probably won't have enough time to go dress shopping while you are there, though. Those trips are usually pretty packed for time. |

Oh Dahling....I'm always SOOO impressed when another diva wannabee like you makes a lame attempt at being...debonaire...
Dahling...just tell your friend to "jet" on over to China...I mean everything's made there anyway....and should price even be an issue if she's going to spain...No, not really...dahling...
Or tell her to come back to the good ole USA...by then it will be better known as the USSA (United Socialist States of America) under Dear Leader Obama and we'll be sharing the wealth. What this means to your friend, Dahling, is that if she doesn't have a dress of her own, Big Brother will steel one from someone who does so she can have one for free....it's her "right" ya know... |
