Where is the best place for bars and nightlife in Spain?

Not so much nightclubs, more bars and pubs that are run into the night. Where is the most popular place and which are the best bars and stuff?
And what time of year is it most busy, or does it have tourists all time of year?
Additional Details
Other than Ibiza.

There are bars open late everywhere in Spain throughout the year. You'll always find a normal bar(rather than a club) open until 2 a.m. on weekdays and 3 on Fridays and Saturdays. If that's not late enough, there are clubs in towns and cities open until about 6. During fiestas most bars are open until at least 4! You may be best searching the web for fiestas, and planning where to go depending on the dates matching your trip. Although only partially completed, my blog contains details of good bars that are open late in a couple of cities, and when finished will cover most regions, except the largest and therefore most difficult(in terms or meeting people and making friends) cities of Barcelona and Madrid.

My current 3 favourite regions are Asturias(where I am now), the Basque Country and Valencia, but people are friendly in all regions, especially if you make the effort to speak the lingo, however poorly!

The question is a bit vague, as Spain is a huge country (in terms of area it's about 5 times the size of England) and also includes the islands. As you have said Ibiza no, then you can look at places like Mallorca and resorts within (like Magaluf, for example) are always heaving almost all year round.

Mainland spain obviously Barcelona and Madrid are the main ones, as they're bigger than Seville Granada, Malaga, etc. and not as geared towards tourists. Most pubs are open till 3am, but the close and the clubs close at 6am - but then others open at 6am till 12 midday, etc.

Any good?

There are tourists in Spain all year round, but obviously more in summer. There is nightlife to be found everywhere in Spain. I don't know Barcelona that well as I've never lived there, but Madrid and Valencia have rocking nightlife. The best bars and "disco pubs" are frequented mostly by locals and are open until the early hours of the morning. In Madrid, the main late nights spots are located in a couple of areas, Malasaña and La Latina. In Valencia, El Carmen and Canovas. If you did fancy visiting a nightclub, Pacha is in both cities.

Gosh, I was gonna say Ibiza. Cause it's so well known.

There are bars all over in Spain. Many stay open till all hours. Many have great reputations.

I think what you are looking for would be best found in Madrid or Barcelona...Barça has tons of music clubs, that sound really interesting.

Sevilla has late night bars, too. If you want to go see Flamenco in a more natural setting than the Tablaos, go to the CarbonerĂa in Barrio Santa Cruz. And there was some place just downstairs from where we stayed that was open until very late on Fridays and Saturdays. That was Calle Arfe. Just walk down the street and turn in wherever that music is...someone playing guitar, and everyone singing along.
