i love majorca been many times with my kids only place i hated was alcudia-palma nova has one of the lovliest beaches ive ever visited and cala dor was so unrushed and pretty-when it comes to booking my yearly hols i always look at majorca first-it has something for everyone

Cala D'or is beautiful, port, beaches, family friendly, far away from Magalluf.

Porte Polensa and Alcudia are lovely (sorry my spelling is poor)

stay away from palma nova & magaluf - go to Blackpool if you want that experience

nightcrawler
Avoid Palma Nova and Magaluf unless you are impressed by Southend-on-Sea or Blackpool ... with all night rowdiness. Cala D'Or is very nice for families though, for beaches, I'd probably head for Alcudia or Puerto Pollensa in the north. They are all about an hour from the airport.

My ideal solution for a family would probably be Cala D'Or plus a hire car so I'd have a choice of great beaches just beyond the main resort.

Santa Ponsa, has nice beach if you want a quiet holiday especially with children although you don't say what ages they are then porta pollensa/ Alcudia would be good. Been some time since I was there with my children, we all had a great time.... Enjoy Majorca wherever you choose to stay.

c'an picafort good beaches for the kids and not to far away from alcudia.

The bay of Alcudia, on the opposite side of the Island (opposite to Bay of Palma) is more beautiful. The Bay of Palma is just worthy if you wanna clubbin' or get drunk, altough Palma is a big and very beautiful city, is a must-see place of the island. Closer to the city, the only worthy place to stay is Cala Viñas, a small beach a little appart from Magalluf and Palmanova. It's very good for children.
The whole island is stunning!!
And don't miss the Soller's train, from Palma to the small town of Soller, really beautiful!!!

try sticking to the north east of the island it's got the more family friendly resorts like alcudia and can'picafort. alcudia is a little busier than can'picafort but both are quite without being dull. alcudia has the best beach by far but can'picafort is at the end of that beach and all the lovely little bar are on a promenade with is unusual in Majorca. witch ever one you chose you'll be happy with as long as you pick the right hotel(hotel Haiti, can'picafort) :-)

palma nove is really nice its pretty much next to magaluf where all the night clubs are and the roudy lot go, but families tend to go to palma nova the beaches there are beautiful and really nice resaurants too. im guna be working in magaluf this year...come see me :)
