I've been a couple of times and your best bet is the Bus Turistic Open-Top Bus from Catalunya Square at the top of Las Ramblas. It goes on 3 different routes,1 ticket covers all of the routes & its Hop-on Hop-off wherever you like for the whole day. It goes to every major tourist sight in Barcelona (Nou Camp,Sagrada Familia Cathedral,Olympic Stadium,Parc Guell etc). Its also a great way to see the city & get your bearings! Enjoy your trip!

If you have time go and see the cathedral by Gaudi which is just amazing, Las Ramblas, the old riverbeds which are now hectic streets full of people from every walk of life! The Parc Guell, another Gaudi masterpiece. Barcelona is a fantastic city and every street has something wonderful to offer! Have a great time! For more information, contact www.bcn.es
It will be in Spanish but you can change it to English

Monuments of Gaudi (Pedrera and Casa Battlo) on Paseo de Gracia, Sagrada Familia, Gothic Quarter with Cathedral, famous avenue Ramblas with flower shops and small animals on sale. In the surroundings the town of Sitges and Monserrat mountain.
You could check for more info:

And of course the fountains of Montjuic at night with music and lights. Very nice.

I've just been there and we've visited the old part of town (lots of churches and cathedrals and stuff) which took us half a day. We stayed in a youth hostel on the Ramblas so we saw that every day.
The other day we visited the modernist part of Barcelona. You must see Casa Batllo (it costs a lot though to enter, but the outside is very impressive), Casa Vicens , the Sagrada Familia and Parc Guëll (it's a little out of the city center, but definitely worth a visit). You can take a bus tour (red or blue, depending which part of town you want to visit. We did it all on foot and the modernist part took us a day. We didn't find the tourist office very helpful (either you had to pay a lot for a map or you just couldn't get one) so we asked a map in our hostel.

I'd suggest checking out touristy places like sagrada familia and gothic quarter. But the city also has some cool neighborhoods and really great local restaurants.

You should find some good ideas here on both popular and local attractions

go to the barcelona pavilion and the sagrada familia. - ok, modern architecture is not everyone's cup of tea but, you have to see both; then decide which, for you, is the most beautiful building in the world. i can't think of anything, anywhere that competes.
also set aside at least one afternoon to wander round bari gotic. lots of little narrow streets, with tapas bars, clubs, shops, galleries etc. a bit like brighton lanes, but hotter.
oh and see the magic fountain lightshow.
and the beach
and the ramblas
and the maritime museum
and the nou camp

go for a month
