Where should we go? |
Hi Everyone,
My bf and I are thinking of going away in the beginning of September but we are unsure where in Spain to go? We were originally planning on Calpe, as we have been before and liked it but we have left it to late to get a decent apartment. We would like somewhere that will be warm, within walking distance to the beach, shops, restaurants and bars but also a nice apartment with a view. Any suggestions?
Thanks |

I don't think you can beat Palma Nova in Majorca.
Its the perfect base to travel to Palma, Magaluf, Santa Ponsa and other places on the island for the day.
Of course Palma Nova is a lovely resort too with lovely beaches, walks etc.
Enjoy your hols where ever you go! |

I love majorca - but when people hear that they generally just think magaluf and lager louts. You should go to Cala D'or, on the East coast. It's stunning!! You could stay at Barcelo Ponent Playa (Half Board) right next to the gorgeous sandy cove beach "Cala Ferrera", or if you want self-catering there's "Sol Cala D'or apts" right around the corner from "Cala Esmerelda" beach, my favourite - used to live around the corner from there, there's plenty of restaurants and shops close by. Or if you want all-inclusive there's Marina Corfu right on it's own private beach, and the food in there is gorgeous - make sure you request a sea view beacuse the views are stunning!!! That's where I would go anyway. |

If you fancy a typical Anadaluce sea side town, without all the Irish pubs and English breakfasts that have ruined most of the Costas Blanca & Sol, try somewhere like Almunecar on the Costa Tropical. If you fancy an activity holiday, or would like to go riding or somthing, try Totally sorted sports as they specialise in couples & families. |

I just came back from Spain and I found Cadiz and El Puerto De Santa Maria were great towns to go to. They're both in southern Spain. Cadiz is the larger, more tourist friendly town. El Puerto De Santa Maria is where I stayed in a hotel. El Puerto had great beaches and the town was so cute and quaint. The two towns are connected by a ferry boat, so you can easily go between the two. Everything is also within walking distance.
If you don't know much Spanish, it would be difficult to travel locally and avoid tourist traps. But I had an amazing time and would go back in a heartbeat! |

Barcelona has loads to offer. If you stay in Olympic Village you are right by the beach with a 5 minute bus ride into the centre. There is art, architecture, parks, Zoo, Churches, Cathedrals, Olympic stadium (With a beautiful lights & music fountain spectacle every night at 9pm), Palace of Music and La Ramblas - which is a long street full of shops, a market, cafes, restaurants and different street performers and artists every day. |

Well you could try flying to Jerez or Malaga( both Ryan Air,Monarch & EasyJet fly into these airports respectively) in the south of Spain.
Both are close to Cadiz. As one answer has already said you can visit Puerto De Santa de Maria, Rota & Cadiz capital. Jerez is close by and you can visit various bodegas & the famous equestrian school, Jerez zoo, and the sherry festival is also on in September. If you travel futher down the coast you will also be able to visit various beaches on the Costa de la Luz eg. Bolonia, Los Caños de la Meca, Tarifa, Conil, Chiclana and Zahara de las Atunes, El Palmar. You also have the option of going in to the mountains to see some of the while villages such as Grazelma, El Bosque, Olvera,Arcos de la Frontera, Vejer, Olvera. Try www.tugasa.com for more information on the hotels in this region which are both cheap & cheerful & quaint. Check it out on the net, you could be surprised! |

barcelona is one of my favorite places in the world. the beach is right there, theres 40 markets there. restaurants serve dinner until 9 or ten so youre gonna have to get used to that. or you can just get tapas. theres an abundance of bars there and as for a view, theres never a bad one there. |

Roquetas de Mar is great. Its as far south as you can go, so will be hot. Plenty of bars and restaurants, and the tapas are still free with a drink in this area. Nice beach, good shops and good night life. The Arena Centre is a big complex easy walking distance from everything, and good apartments, try them and have a good holiday |
