The Barcelona train runs along the coast and in the area you are looking at stops at Calella, Pineda de Mar, Santa Susanna, Malgrat and finishes at Blanes.
However this is no problem if you decide to stay in Lloret, as Blanes is only 4.5 miles from Lloret and there are regular buses between Lloret bus station and Blanes railway station. The bus service coincides with the arrival of the train & the last bus from Blanes runs at 2240hrs, which is late enough to allow you a long day in Barcelona.
The journey takes around 20 minutes and costs 1.35 euros.
On the link below click on to How to get there, then getting to Lloret, then by road, under which you will see bus timetables, including Lloret to Blanes Railway Station.
A taxi fare between Blanes railway station and Lloret costs 12-13euros.

Hi
I have not long come back from Costa Brava. We stayed in Pineda De Mar just 2 train stops (5 mins) from Malgrat. Malgrat has a train station with Trains going to Barcelon every 30 mins. Takes just over an hour to get there. Not sure if Lloret has a station. Malgrat is lovely, with tons of shops, restuarants and close to the beach. Have fun :)
We paid 12 euro return for both me and my boyfriend :)

Those are both major cities. There are train stations.

There is a local train that stops about every ten miles or so between Barcelona and the French Border, and going south from Barcelona to at least as far as Tarragona.

It costs about 5 or 10€ to get as far as the border...not terribly expensive.

check renfe.es for details. Just plug the towns into the appropriate spaces. The main station in Barcelona is Sants, but Plaça de Espanya has a huge hub, and if memory serves, the local stops there, too. (sort of in the middle of the city, and both stations are easily accessed by the metro.)

I still think there's a station at Lloret - but I don't see it in the schedule, so it looks like Malgrat would work better (I'm sure there's something close enough to get to by bus at Lloret).

And I don't see a stop labelled P.Esp., but, again, I'm only going by memory on that one.

Here's the page for the schedules. check it out.
