I hate to say it, but Barcelona is the better choice given the shortness of your visit and your interests. I very much prefer Madrid as a place to LIVE; in fact I stay 6 months out of every year there. But as a short-term tourist you'll probably find Barcelona more interesting to VISIT. (Just watch your wallet -- there's also a bit more street crime in Barcelona, although most of it is still very very safe compared to a lot of comparable cities in the US and elsewhere. |
