I think Barcelona, it would be better, it's more open-minded, and it has a large variety for nightlife, but also is a more expensive city and remember that in Barcelona, most people speak Catalan, although they understand perfectly Spanish... |

I haven't been to Barcelona, but Madrid has a large gay district called Chueca. |

both, but here's different styles. Madrid is more open, let's say more friendly (Chueca is the place). Barcelona is more "fashion", cosmopolitan but at the same time more "cold". Definiltly i'd prefer Barcelona. Because the beach!!!! |

Both are ok for gay people I think. Madrid has a well-known neighbouhood called Chueca which is the gay one. In Barcelona there's one but not as big and is called Gaixample (properly, Eixample), you only notice at night. Sitges, the spanish gay city, is half an hour by train south Barcelona.
Spain approved gay marriage and adoption so people are open minded (there are bigots but like anywhere else). Either city will be ok for you, big cities, lots to offer. Just decide depending on the job offer, salary... Barcelona has the edge because of the sea but Madrid is really cool as well and its nightlife is famous. |

Barcelona definitely. Especially as Sitges is only 20 or so miles away. A beautufil seaside town, also known as the gay capital in the area with wonderful sandy beaches, fab gay and straight bars. also has gay nudist beach. check out the links below. |
