Hmmm... Good question. I don't think anyone can hope to assume or know the absolutely correct answer to this question but I think we could agree that the biggest cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and Sevilla would not be among the cheapest cities in Spain - oh, including San Sebastian, of course.
So which "CITY" could it be? I'll make my guesses now. I'd say, not in any particular order, they'd be GRANADA, SALAMANCA, CÓRDOBA, and maybe even SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA. Nowhere on or very near the coast would be cheap, that's for sure.

Wow...not any cities in Catalonia, that´s for sure.
I bet you have to go south to get things a bit cheapper, probably in Andalucia or Extremadura. But after the Euro arrived here, nothing is cheap.
I´m Spanish, and nothing is cheap any more, especialy near the coast, where they put prices up . |

In my opinion, cities in Galicia, Extremadura and Andalusia are cheaper. For example, a Coffee is about 1'10 € in Huesca and 0'90 in Pontevedra (Galicia) (on my last visit there) |

I think that if we talk about the capitals of each provinces, maybe Caceres, Teruel or Soria are the cheapest. |

No city in Spain is cheap, nor are any coastal resorts. If you want value for money food and drink wise I suggest you visit bars and restaurants in little villages way off the beaten track.
I live on the coast but if I go a few kilometres inland I pay less for drinks and meals.
if you want to see the tourist cities you have to pay for it. |

I love Spain. - i think u shoudnt go where tourists usually go for their holidays as they tend to be expensive...so Madrid, Barcelona are a bit expensive...choose other less touristic places.. |

Pamplona looks pretty inexpensive to visit...except during San FermĂn.
I lived in Spain years ago, and things were inexpensive. I was back recently. I concur with the others....it isn't cheap ANYWHERE anymore!
If you want the most inexpensive places to live, you should look in the smaller towns. But then, you're looking at an expensive commute to work IN any of the cities.
My view on Sevilla was, the urban sprawl (which seems to be an issue everywhere) has made it necessary to live far outside the city in order to afford housing, making the commute really tough. |
