Spain is many countries all rolled into one therefore the culture in Spain is very varied and interesting. Its Atlantic shores and the huge plains of the interior have very distinct characteristics. Similarly, the Mediterranean Costa's change ‘flavour’ as they sweep down from the Pyrenees through the pine forests of the Costa Brava

It depedens on what you're looking for. If you want beach go to Mallorca, Ibiza, Tenerife...but you're gonna find thousands of english people.
The north of Spain is beautiful, Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Pais Vasco. There are villages really nice and the food is very good. Some towns in the center of Spain are nice also, close to Madrid, Alcala de henares (place where Cervantes was born), Aranjuez, Chinchon...you can go by bus or by train from Madrid. |

I went camping in the north a few years ago. We stayed right on the coast and went by train (about 20 minutes) to Bilbao each day. There is a Guggenheim museum there and some of the most amazing tapas i have had was in the main Placa.
Then when we got fed up with being around peope we would head back to the beach. Kicking nightlife there! |

If you want somewhere nice and quiet then try taking a small villa in rural Andalucia. There are some lovely unspoilt and peaceful parts with beautiful scenary and sleepy villages.
Casares, Genalgaucil,Gaucin or Jimena are all good choices |
