We are not obsessed, is part of our culture... but I think you ppl who live abroad... think here in Spain we are always dancing sevillanas drinking sangria doing bullfighting and all this stuff.... Hemingway was obsessed with the bullfighting, maybe u are obsessed with the bulfighting coz u did this question... but not Spanish are... coz we were born with the culture and we know exactly what is. |

They're not.
Most Spanish people are not interested in bull fighting.
The obsessives are the anti-blood sport people, and 'Yahoo Answers', who even have a section for bullfighting questions!. |

i'm tempted to say it vent's male aggression but crime in Spain is the same as anywhere else i suppose .
It's an ancient ritual - no more.
i wish the bull would have a fair chance - like five minutes without his sword and if the bull kills a Matador let him live in peace and breed. |

Not all Spaniards like bullfighting but it is true it attracts many people because of the risk it involves.....meaning adrenaline galore. The "matador" or "torero" exposes himself to the mercy of the animal; he seduces, teases, and even dances with it as in a love affair. At the end, when there is a kind of bond between them, the bull is conquered and dies for an audience.
I am not a fan of it myself, but this is how I see it and I respect it. |

Bulls are a symbol of strength and valour and the matadors admire them and at the same time want to pit their own strength and bravery against them - they are bravos! |

is just part of thei culture |

Bullfighting is part of Spanish culture and the toreros are treated like heroes , it,s just the way they are and you have to except that if you live in Spain, even if you don,t like it (like me) because it,s not going to change any time soon. |
