Why do people from spain or whatever people get mad when i call them Mexicans Hispanics?

I am spanish and i can tell you that there are a lot of people who speak english in Spain and other languages, just like anywhere in the world.

english are not australians, english are not USA-Americans, english are not southafricans, english are not canadians.... and spanish are not mexicans or whatever. Spanish are from Spain that is placed in Europe, maybe you should take a book and read it sometimes...

Most Mexicans are native Americans. Most Mexicans speak Spanish.
In the US, people from Spanish speaking countries AND mother tongue Spanish speaking US citizens are called Hispanics.
In Europe, Hispanic means anyone from Spain or a Spanish speaking country.

Most US folks assume, rightly or wrongly, that Spanish speakers are from Mexico.

The Spaniards you met seem rather touchy. Normally if a Spaniard is mistaken for a Mexican, they take no offence and are proud to say where they come from.

Because in america you ALL seem to think every Spanish speaking person, i.e. Spaniards, Argentinians, Chileans, Bolivians, Uruguayans, Paraguayans, Nicaraguans etc are all mexican!!! Just because they speak Spanish!
And This man you were talking to? He may have been in the wrong; depending. If he said Latino referring to Latinoamericanos, or Latin Americans to you, then he was incorrect, as Spain is in Europe. If he was referring to European Latins, (italians, southern french, romanian, portuguese, spanish), then he was right, as Spain is in Latin Europe.
But he was definitely wrong saying he wasn't white, unless he came from a non-Spanish background. He may have been North African as there are many North Africans in Southern Spain.

EDIT: Also, they shouldn't get 'mad' when they are called Hispanics, as this is in fact what they are... I think you have the wrong end of the stick.
