Will you reprimand someone dear to you? |
or report to proper authorities such as a close relative, friend, co-worker
if they are married and are having extra marital affairs?
if they are single but fooling their partner?
if they are public servants and doing corruption?
if they are your co-worker and is stealing the company's property?
in all, if they are doing something wrong? Why would you check or not check?
Does our culture have something to do with our decision?
For instance, an adulterer in one region dishonors her husband, but in another culture,it is not, but is dishonoring the family who brought her up. Additional Details abuela nany.... thanks for caring to remind, but i am conducting a survey around the globe to see what kind of morality or standard there are in these individual nation or culture and that is somewhat traveling around. And the problem is not just family, but anything that is wrong.
there is a saying :
evil triumphs when good people do nothing. |

I would find it very hard to report to the authorities anything a friend or relative did. I would reprimand them on the other hand if I found out they were doing something wrong. |

I agree regarding the extramarital stuff...It is mostly between the parties involved. If the person committing adultery was my friend, I would (and have) express my disappointment in thier failure to treat their spouse right, but I would not report them to the spouse. On the other hand, if it's the spouse, who is hurting my friend, I might have a different point of view. I would try to let my friend know they were being duped. This is a tough situation, though, as the bearer of bad tidings is often blamed, and gets caught in the middle, and I'm not all that good with that sort of diplomacy.
As for someone doing something like stealing from the till, especially in a public servant's position, I might, again, try to discourage them from continuing, and then find some way to anonymously tip off the authorities, without (hopefully) anyone ever finding out it was me.
If a co-worker is stealing company property...that depends what is being stolen. Expensive electronics are one thing, but paper clips are something else. |

Why don't you ask this question in "Family & Relationships" that is the section where it belongs, not in "Travel" in Spain...
It's a pity, you have a good question, and you would have more and better answers if it was in the correct location...
(By the way, I would definitely reprimand). |

If people are having extra marital affairs then it is their business and no one elses. I would never take the moral high ground on that one. I may disassociate myself from a close friend or relative, but they are old enough to sort out their own affairs, but as Abuelo Nany says, this question has nothing to do with a travel forum. |
