I must contradict the other lady. Laussane has nothing to offer.
You might try to go from Geneve to Chamonix its one of the higher mountians (in France but close to Geneve) with lots of snow and lovely views when you get good weather. There are trains from Geneve to Chamonix but nothing is cheap and lodging in Chamonix is quite expensive.

Bern is a Swiss city (not German) but if you are short in time I would suggest take a train card and go to Zurich (the biggest city of Switzerland) or to Basel even though its quite north to Geneve and might take a few hours train ride, Basle has a lovely old city with renovated buildings.

On the other hand go to some of the famous mountains here is a link

Everywhere the lift to the mountian is expensive and lodgings are not cheap.

I do not think there is much history or monuments except Wilhelm Tell's with the apple , here:

Oh you lucky thing! Switzerland is breath takingly gorgeous!
I stayed in Lausanne and you can get there from Geneva by train. Then you can bus around Lausanne. Ouchy is a gorgeous lake where you can take a walk.
Switzerland isn't cheap, but if you find the pub 'Captain Cook" its half the price of other bars to get a drink.

I believe that on the German side of Switzerland there is a town called Bern which is famous for having big bears in cages in the middle of town.

Enjoy your trip!
