I was in Europe in the summer of 2006 and we had a day trip up Mt. Pilatus. It was gorgeous. We took a boat across Lake Lucerne, then you take the cable car up the mountain. The views were gorgeous and we went on a partly cloudy day. I'd imagine that on a perfect, sunny day, it would be absolutely stunning. You take a gondola down and both ways of traveling are actually really fun. I loved it.

It'll be a while before I can afford to travel to Europe again, but if I go to Switzerland I will definitely go back up to Pilatus. We had a ton of fun up there.

I went to Europe 10 yrs ago and did an excursion on and around Pilatus, beautiful area. Too bad it's a tourist trap. I didn't travel across the pond to go to a city that panders to vacationers rather than stay true to their roots.

I stopped there by mistake because I pretty much planned my trip as I went along and where my finger landed is where I went.

I wanted to immerse myself in the local cultures but it was kinda hard when a third of everything was in English, another third in Japanese and the rest in native German. The store keepers didn't seem so happy either.
