Yes but usually you will only receive a workpermit (Permit A and B) if you have a solid job contract or if you come from a professional field that is needed (for instance nursing). As a retiree you will have to present a considerable income. Check with the Swiss Embassies.

You can if you have a C permit. Like mentioned before, most are A and B work permits. When we lived there, we had B permits and we would have had to been there for 5 years before we would have been able to get C permits.

Have you looked at the price of housing? It is insanely expensive. The Swiss offer 100 year mortgages because the prices are so high. Our friends built a townhome and it cost over 1,000,000 SFR.

If you have boatloads of money, you may be able to work it out.

You should contact the Swiss Embassy or Consulate and they can give you the most accurate information.

If you can make it work, it's an awesome place to be.

The possibilities highly depend on your nationality.
Could you please provide it. Then I can answer your question more specifically.

yes, depending on the circumstances

Goddess of Grammar
Yes it's possible. You need either a Swiss spouse (I went that route) or a big bunch of cash (Johnny Halliday, Shania Twain, Tina Turner etc went that route).

i'm not completely sure... but a friend i know likes to buy holiday houses and always talks about this...

Aparently you can but you need someone to well like support your claim - or whatever they call it. But you have to pay extra fees like adding more money in order to buy the house and it goes to the government or something./ Sorry i'm not much help but i heard this when our family friend tried to buy a house in china and in Hawii so i'm not completely sure about Swiss rules

Best of luck and happy new year
