Switzerland has extremes of each season.
In the winter it is very cold... but this gives you a chance to go snowboarding or skiing. Around christmas there are also loads of festive markets - its a great winter destination.
Summer can get very not (into the 40C's). There are loads of great things to do in this time like go swimming in the lakes/rivers (or one of the many open air pools), go for picnics and of course BBQ's. You will benefit from loads of late night sun and warm summer nights.
So this leaves spring and Autumn. Basically if you don't like the weather to be too hot but want to have some sun try the end of spring or start of Autumn. If you want to benefit from some of the cold (for skiing) but don't want to freeze go towards the start-mid spring.
It just depends what you are wanting to do. Be advised that a lot of things will be seasonal so you should things what you want to do and then see when they are availible. |

Depends on what you want.
Do you want to go skiing??
Then the winter months would be more to your
liking. Be sure to pack a lot of warm
clothing so yo don't freeze.
Do you just want to visit and see the sights??
Then the late spring and summer seasons
would be more to your liking.

For sightseeing, fall is best. For skiing, winter, obviously.
Spring can be pretty unpredictable, with beautiful sunny
warm days, 70 degrees, then snow the next day. |

I went during the winter, and it was extremely cold outside. I would recommend spring or summer, but Switzerland is extremely pretty. |

Summer for hiking, canoeing, swimming, partying...
Winter for fantastic and expensive skiing...
Want to go by car, RV, train or by hitch-hiking? Everything is possible - and don't forget: the country is relatively small. Still, I could suggest a round trip that would easily take two to three weeks and you would only have seen half of the cake. So what is your choice? |
