Can I travel to Schaffhausen from Basel. Can I see Schaffhausen and reach Luzern the same night?
I will be travelling from Frieburg and get into Basel early morning. Can I visit Schaffhausen and come back in the evening to go to Luzern?? Is there a direct train from Basel to Schaffhausen??
There's a direct train through Germany that takes an hour. It's run by the Deutsche Bahn. If you stay in Switzerland you have to change trains in Zurich and it's an hour and a half. There may be more of those trains, and if you have a SwissPass that's included, whereas the German train is not. If you don't plan to see Basel there may be a better route directly from Freiburg (assuming you mean the one in Germany).
Schaffhausen to Luzern, again through Zurich, is an hour and forty minutes. So not that tough a day. no.
