Could someone please translate some stuff into Swiss German? |
OK I know Swiss German does not have an official Language and they write in German but i really need your help. So I want to ask the Swiss foreign exchange student are our school out. I really like her and to be romantic and sweet i want to say it in Swiss German. I would like to say "I really like you Carla. would you like to go on a date." So since Swiss German doesn't have a written language could you show me how to pronounce it? Thank you so much if you can |

You are mixing up the facts as so many of the foreigners coming to this country: In the Northern and Northeastern part of Switzerland, the daily language is Alemannic (often incorrectly called Swiss German), it's spoken by 100 pc of the locals and of course not by the foreigners that live there. German however is considered to be the official language even if nobody really knows it correctly. Besides that, Switzerland has three more official languages (French, Italian and Raeto-Romansh).
If you want to impress that girl, the sentence you were asking for would go like this: "Ich find di ächt guet, Carla, chunnsch emal z'Abig mit mir uus?". There might of course be thousands of other translation possibilites, but since you never can't translate a romantic sentence from one language into another one word by word, there can only be an analogous version - which I here suggested. But I remind you: Foreigners trying to speak our language are regarded as rather ridiculous. So, chose well before you act! :-) Good luck, anyhow! |
