"You reap what you sow." Just be friendly and smile and make an effort to learn a few words of French/Italian/Swiss German (depending on the part of Switzerland you plan to visit) and you'll be fine.

I think it's mostly the contrary since people like to speak english and many of them have been to the USA. Of course you might drop on an unfriendly person but that can happen everywhere...
