I went to Geneva in 2005 and had a great time there.

There are a few differences of course as I was staying with friends and didn't have to pay for accommodation. Also it was summer but if the weather is consistant then you will have nothing to worry about.

One of the better places for shopping personally was at Lausanne rather then Geneva. You can take the rail-train there. And another great thing about Lausanne was the great restaurant I ate at on the bank of the lake just outside of Lausanne centre going away from Geneva at a place called Ouchy.

If you have time go to the UN Centre there in Geneva as well.

Have a great time and also make sure you go on a speed boat on the lake!

My memories of Switzerland are that the people are arrogant and the mountains are boring.

Hi! The Cove is a very nice place to stay and it has a restaurant called Houlihan's inside that's very good. November is COLD!! But it's still nice to visit. Good luck!

In Switzerland or Wisconsin? If Switzerland, visit Chateau du Chillon and make sure you try all types of fondue, such as fondue chinoise and ondue bourguignonne. Go to Montreux, but don't overlook Vevey. And, while touristy, take a tour boat...the view from on the lake is spectacular.

November is a little chilly. Throughout Geneva at this time there are little chestnut roasting stands so the city smells magical and, if you're with someone you love, very romantic.

My answer from another question on Geneva:

I also went to Geneva last October! We stayed at the big Swissôtel Métropole, which is pretty close to the lake (although the trees in the park have grown a lot since the hotel was first opened!).

They kindly upgraded us to a mini-suite, so we had a sofa and a big TV next to the mini-bar and coffee machine. In the bedroom proper we had a huge double bed and another TV, and there was yet another TV in the bathroom, so you could watch while relaxing in the bath! Anyway, the hotel is about as close to the lake as you can get, and we could see it, including the Jet d'Eau, from our window.

There were all the usual extras like champagne and fruit as soon as we checked-in, fluffy robes and slippers, and cute little mini-toblerones on the pillow each night! So it was very romantic... but it's not the cheapest hotel I've ever stayed in!

The weather at the end of October last year was fantastic - we were virtually sunbathing on the lake paddle steamer boat (that's a must-do), but we were lucky. November is going to be chilly, and the weather is likely to be erm.... variable!

The best way to see the old city is on one of the little "trains" that do guided tours. But the city centre isn't huge, so walking around is no problem. We ate in the Métropole's "posh" restaurant ("Le Grand Quai") the first night - excellent service and fantastic food, if a little pricey... but Geneva is never going to be a cheap city. There's a wide choice of restaurants in the city, and the next day we eventually chose a 'traditional Swiss' restaurant (complete with a cheesey fondue!) and were not disappointed.

Yes, I enjoyed Geneva itself, but I found Lusanne to be more to my liking. (It's the International Olympic headquarters!)

I've never been to Lake Geneva, but I went to Davoss in the German part of Switzerland, and I'm planning to go back there.
