ok,
i am swiss and i've lived here almost all my life. except for one year, which i spent in canada.

-yes, we do have long school-days, but we have a very good educational system.

-you can't say that most people live in appartments, that's only the cities.

-we have "nice weather places" too.. depends on where you live (sealevel and so on)

- it is true, that it's expensive. but you also earn more money if you work here. although, depending on what canton and what district you live in, you pay more or less taxes.

- i personally think that life's much more stressful here in switzerland than in canada for example.

- i love switzerland, and to me, it is a wonderful place to live

I am Swiss and have lived there all my life. I am probably not very objective in my view of the country. I would say all in all it is very nice as it has lovely countryside areas, the mountains if you like skiing or snowboarding etc. during the winter.
But it is also a very expensive place to live. Especially if you live in one of the big cities, such as Zurich or Geneva, you spend a lot on accommodation.
But I would definitely recommend you visit. Most people speak English there, as it is taught in school.

Goddess of Grammar
It's a beautiful country, but that doesn't make it a wonderful place to LIVE. It takes a lot of getting used to. There are definitely some good points though.

I've never been but apparently Shania Twain and her husband seem to think it's a great place to live.

con:
- lots of rain, cold and grey days
- very expensive
- the swiss can come across as unfriendly
- old fashioned noon break system
- long school days

- in school you learn lots of languages
