It would help a lot if you could speak a local language. Depending on where your gf is from, that would be Italian, French, or Swiss German.
It would also help if you were an EU citizen. Most unskilled labor in Switzerland is imported from Italy, Portugal, or the Balkans. The Swiss are xenophobic, and so many of these workers are required to leave during the off season. Switzerland has recently joined the passport-free EU zone though, and so the rules might now favor EU citizens.
You can move to Switzerland for up to 3 months as a tourist and look for a job. Keep in mind, though, that the cost of living is very high and apartments are tough to find on short notice for short terms.
Is there any chance that her family can offer you a job to get you in? As a gardener or English tutor or something?
Also, have you looked into transferring to a Swiss university to finish school, learn Swiss German, and eventually join the Swiss workforce through that route? |
