How do I get from Basel Airport to Zurich airport? |
I have to get from Basel (Switzerland) airport to Zurich (Switzerland) airport. Someone told me that there are shuttles that run pretty regularly between the two airports, but I can't seem to find the info. Ultimately, I have to get to Zurich the city, so I guess I could take the train from Basel to Zurich, but my flight lands late on a Sunday night, so I don't think there will be many trains. I guess my only option is to get to Zurich airport then take the train to Zurich HB. Any Suggestions? |

By public transport
Zurich airport -> Basel SBB Main Train Station -> CAMAG in Muttenz
The airport train station is on the lowest level of Terminal B, one level below the lower shopping area

The schedule for the departing trains is shown on a large display on the lower shopping area level.
Buy a railway ticket "Zurich Airport to Basel SBB" at the ticket counter. Major credit cards are accepted.
Once an hour there is a train heading directly for Basel SBB.
The journey takes about 1:10 h.
Alternatively you can take a train first to Zurich main station and then change to the connecting train to Basel SBB.
The journey takes about 1:30h.
From the railway station Basel SBB take a taxi to CAMAG Muttenz (taxi stands in front of the main station building).
Approx. Fares:

I used to live in Basle so I may be of some help, though I'm not sure if some of my information is out of date. You don't say if you have to catch a plane from Zurich, which will make things more complicated. BUT: there's a morning shuttle flight from Basle airport to Zurich/Kloten. I believe it leaves around 6 am -- in time for the business people to catch their connecting international flights. As for trains, well, you have direct trains from Basle to Zurich every half-hour until just after midnight (12.08 in my days). In the middle of the night there are occasional bus connections from Basle central station to Brugg on the outskirts of the Zurich agglomeration. From Brugg you can catch a suburban train (s-bahn) to Zurich -- they run all night. |

I don't know when the last plane is, but the last bus/train connection to Zurich HB on a Sunday leaves the airport at 23:45 and gets in at 1:32. The first one in the morning is at 5:20 and gets in at 6:56. |
