How easy is it to get from the big cities in switzerland to the alps and the countryside by public transport?
Having lived there I can assure you that the public transport system is excellent and both trains and buses serve the alps and the countryside very well and frequently.

Switzerland... Public transport is just perfect where ever you wish to travel... Trains, busses and trams always come in time. Enjoy one of the most beautiful countries in the world.

The ticket prices do not vary so no need to book ages in advance. You can also get a half fare card for chf150 which allows half price travel. if you are planning to do lots of train journeys then it is 100% worth it. here is the link:
