The distance is 56 kms (see http://maps.google.ch/maps), you can easily do the round trip in one day!
I suggest you travel by train (by far the safest and most reliable way to travel in Switzerland), the trip takes 51 minutes. For a personal travel schedule, please visit this site: http://fahrplan.sbb.ch/bin/query.exe/en?. The return trip in 2nd class costs 52 Sfr. for adults, for children up to 16 years it's half that price, whereas children below 6 years of age travel free. As you are 11 people travelling together, you might even be eligible for a group travel ticket. Easily done as a day trip. It takes approx. 1 hour to travel between the two by train. The train is a easy solution to travel back and forth from Interlaken to Bern. see: www.rail.ch. At this website you can enter Interlaken and Bern and pull up train schedules. Children under 16 travel free on the train when the parents travel on a Swiss Pass. |
