How much does it cost to go by train from zurich airport to zurich city center?
6.-CHF if you don't have a half-tax card. If you get the return ticket (Tageskarte) (12.-CHF) you can use it on all the trains, trams, buses and boats if applicable in those two zones for 24 hours. The one-way ticket is good for 2 hours, and again you can go anywhere in those zones. Depending on your plans, you may be better buying a Tageskarte for just the city zone (again 24 hours) after the two hours are up. That's 7.80.
That's for second class, not much sense in travelling first-class just for that but it's 9.80/19.60/13.-- for the trips above.

Get a round trip for 12 Francs (about 10 USD). It allows you to travel on all trams, ferries and trains within the central zone for 24 hours. A one way is 6 Francs (about 5 USD). The trip itself from the airport (Flughafen) to the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) is very quick...maybe 7 minutes tops.

6 SFr. Note, though, the ticket is good only for a few hours, so you have to use it fast.
