1. Geneva
- Visit the old city, the cathedral and don't forget to have a traditional Swiss fondue at Palais de Justice Restaurant - opposite the cathedral.
-Take a boat trip on Leman lake. You can take photos of various old castles - Some boats go to Evian - a French town famous for its mineral water
- Visit Le Jardin Anglais and the Flower Clock ! and have ....café renversé at one of the many cafes there
- By all means, don't miss Le Jardin Botanique where you can admire all sorts of plants. It's also an oasis of peace and quiet
- Last but not least , have a Tête à Tête ice cream at la Rue du Rhone Movenpick.. You can either share it with your significant other...or eat it all yourself ! It's worth the experience anyway !

2. Lausanne

Ouchy in Lausanne is , to my mind, the most beautiful spot of lake Leman.

3. Fribourg

Absolutely beautiful ! It's the home of real Swiss fondue. Try moitié-moitié at Duc Bertold in the old city or at any fribourgeoise restaurant. This means half vacherin (local fribourg cheese) and half gruyère.

While in Fribourg, visit La Sarine (the river) and the museum

4. Zurich

If you can afford it, shop till you drop at ...Bahnhofstrasse ! Have dinner at Stork Restaurant in the old city, Expensive but worth it !

5. Falera

A small village off the beaten track. At about 10-15 km from Chur / Les Grisons. If you love peace and quiet and ... if you are not scared of cows !.....you will love it ...Only a short train ride from the famous Saint Moritz

I live in Zurich. It is beautiful and is a perfect example of everything-in city. Night life is amazing, great food, tourist attractions, we also have our areas that are like the upper eastside of manhatten, but parts that are like brooklyn. However the Zurich zoo is not amazing. If you have nothing else to do its nice but there are better things to occupy your time.

Theres a tie between my 2 favorite Swiss cities. Luzern is in the german part. It is a small city on a lake in between and surrounded by mountains. There is a foot bridge extending across the lake that was made thousands of years ago. The city consists of mostly small and old alley ways. The best time to visit is on a clear day so you see the mountains. i recommend a boat ride, ferry or pedal-boating, I did it last year. It is breath-taking, but then again, all of Switzerland is gorgeuos. It's a 35 minute train ride from Zurich. Lugano is also great, especially during summer, when the flowers are in full bloom and you can take full advantage of the lake. It is near Italy so day trips across the border are possible.

The Jungfrau, Eiger, and Matterhorn areas have great hiking.

Geneva is in the French area. It is the most worldly area in Switzerland as it is the European headquarters for the United Nations.

There is not much to do in Bern or Basel.

Go to the Bernese Alps. Bernese Oberlin and see the Eiger. The Eiger is one of the most beautiful mountains, and is very popular for climbing.

If you are going to Switzerland you will love everything you see there. It is a beautiful country. Geneva is a beautiful old city with much history and many interesting sites. Going in July you will be able to take a tour boat around ake Geneva which will let you see much of the city and a beautiful lake. On a clear day you can see the snaow covered peaks of Mount Blanc in the distance.

I also like Zurich. Here you will get the German influence as opposed to French in Geneva. Wonderful German influenced cooking.

If you want to see a post card Swiss town in a beautiful alpine setting schedule a visit to one of the most scenic villages anywhere. See it described here:
