Switzerland is a small place, so you are probably only 2 - 3 hours by train from anywhere in the country. Therefore, you can visit museums, architectural points of interest, shopping districts, churches, or even restaurants all over the country with not too much effort. Lugano is also close to Italy, so you could cross the border for a quick jaunt to Milan, if you wished. Lonely Planet and other guides often have a pretty good list of places to see in every modest sized city.
Switzerland is big on outdoors recreation, so there will be plenty of info available on fishing, skiing, and mountain sightseeing. Ask your hotel for tips on what to see and where to fish (and whether you need a permit).
As for hiking, there are well-maintained trails all across the country. I am sure you can find guide books that detail them. Keep in mind that it is winter though. |
