As most things are avaiIable here in Switzerland and most academics can afford it to buy what they need I would recommend you to bring something that's special for your country. It's the originality that counts not the price. You probably know the people you gonna visit. If not personally then at least you know what they are working (I assume). Just use your fantasy.

Regards,
an academic from Basel

Hilda
A book about where you live or you are from is the most appreciated gift.if they are academic then they like to read and no matter how much we know a place still there is a lot to learn

They love nice aged wine. they also like antiques. i would say go for antiques.

Bix
In Switzerland, people usually don't expect expensive gifts. I would bring sth original from your country. A bottle of wine is not a good idea. This is usually what Swiss people give as a present when they don't want to reflect about a gift.

Brings something from your contry is probably best since swizerland is quite pricy at times. Genery when i vistit they love honey!! or just something original from your contry. If you can't thin of anything ever true swiss personl loves wine (mostly white and red)!!!! The area that your going really doesn't play that big of a role! Hope it helped
