April is probably good, especially in the south where it is warmer. In the lowlands, spring should be starting, which can be nice as gardens bloom, and in the mountains, you will still have the options of skiing and of Alpine snowscape sightseeing. The weather can be quite variable, though, so expect rain mixed with sunshine mixed with clouds mixed with winds and occasional storms ...
I don't think you will miss anything in specific, although you might have to alter some plans - like skiing on ice instead of powder, or hiking high Alpine trails in snow shoes. |

Well we have a saying here in Switzerland that states that weather does what it wants in April. Really unpredictable. It probably won't snow anymore, though. Or at least I hope so. It can happen, but it's not usual. Anyway, it can rain or the sun can shine or it's just cloudy. It's probably different from week to week and it'll be around 10°C.
I think you should come in April. There aren't as many tourists as in the summer. And spring is kind of beautiful when everything gets green again.
Oh and this answer comes from someone who lives near zurich. The climate can be different in the mountains, where it's probably colder and there's still snow or in ticino where it's probably warmer because it's on the southern side of the alps.
