The whole old town is beautiful, it extends from the central station to the lake, on both sides of the river Limmat. It's well preserved and has a nice atmosphere, strolling through it you almost feel like traveling back in time.

The Kunsthaus (art museum) is worth a visit if you're into art. There are several other good museums and exhibits too.

Zurich has an international feel about it and has a lot to offer, everything from "high" culture to "alternative" culture (check out the Rote Fabrik, "red factory"). It's also very beautiful just walking around, especially around the lake and the hills surrounding it (great view from the top of the Uetliberg).

English won't be a problem, many people speak it well enough.
