Tell your friend to contact the Swiss Consulate in Washington, D.C. and get the necessary papers.

Most countries require a PROVABLE independent income of anywhere from $1000 to $5000 a month in order to issue a resident alien visa... Your friend will just have to do this for theirself because the Consulate is going to want tons of information and proof you probably can't provide.
