If you are back packing for only one month then I can't see you getting a job as you need that time to see the country.
I would advise you to get a Lonely Planet book on the country you prefer and read up. This book is extremely informative and easy to understand.
You would probably need all that money in Australia and New Zealand if you want accommodation in the medium zone but you would never spend that much money in Nepal or Tibet if your accommodation is within the backpacker zone.
Good luck with your travels and I hope you enjoy yourself. You wont be lonely because there are lots of backpackers out there for you to meet who use Lonely Planet and will be on the same trail as you.
Cheers

If you are looking to work you might have difficulty because many countries require you to apply for a different kind of visa than you might need for tourism. You might be able to find work under the table however.
You should get the Lonely Planet guides to those countries. They should be able to give you a good overall idea of things and are more geared for backpacker travelling than other types of guides.

I started back packing about 40 years ago.

Thankfully I started by joining the YHA (Youth Hostels Association). They have thousands of hostels all around the world. They are much cheaper to stay in than motels, and you are much more likely to meet friendly fellow travellers in them, and to pick up good travel tips in them

YHA -- still the best way to go.

Suggest you read articles in LonelyPlanet website. Also post your questions in their forum, you get plenty of real-life experience info from seasoned travellers. Many tried-and-tested methods etc.

Have fun!
