In switzerland better using rented car of swisspass rail?

I want to go to Zurich, Luzern and Mt.Riggi for only 4 days. What is the best way to enjoy the cities and cheaper, by rented car or swisspass rail?

I would definately take the 4-day Swiss Pass. It allows free travel on most trains, buses, trams and boats plus entry to many museums in Switzerland. You can even get half price on some mountain cablecars.

The train trip from Zurich to Luzern is only 45 minutes and there is a direct train every half hour. There are frequent and accessible trains to Rigi as well. Transport in Switzerland is excellent, with most trains running on time and transport to even the most remote areas.

A car would be expensive to rent and expensive for the gas in Switzerland. During peak hours, especially near Zurich, the roads are often crowded. And at the Rigi you would get no reductions on the cable car. Of course, it would depend how many people you were. If it were for a family of four, it may be worthwhile to drive. But for a single person, I definately recommend the train.

Swiss pass.

Rented cars are almost useless in Switzerland, as many places are only accessible by rail and not by road.
