Zinal is a very nice place! I've been there a few times. But don't you want to visit the place before you buy a chalet!

Buying property in Switzerland is a privilege for Swiss citizens, mind you! And I frankly ask myself why you intend to buy a chalet someplace if you don't even have the slightest clue what the place is like... You may visit the website of Zinal to get some information (http://www.zinal.ch/fr/Regions).

Still, there is an English website, too (English might only be spoken in a few places, but don't expect the locals to speak it!, Zinal is in the French speaking part of Switzerland) http://www.myswitzerland.com/en/infra.cfm?rkey=815

About amenities there: Same as everywhere in a high up in the mountains village in Switzerland: Prices raise about as high as the surrounding mountains, the choice is limited, do as the locals do, get your supplies down in the main valley (in Sierre) and bring it up the steep Val d'Anniviers.

Edit: You can buy a flat (as 1st lady09 says), but not a chalet since in this case you also would have to buy the land - and this is strictly limited to Swiss citizens. However, if you came and would take permanent residency, the whole story would look different again ;-)

Yes you can buy a flat there go ahead you will have no problem

edit Thanks Mr Who
