Inter rail pass better?

Hi,

I plan to travel to Switzerland and Austria.
Can anyone recommend whether it is advisable to buy an Inter rail pass for zone C or buy seperate passes for Switzerland and Austria in which case I assume I'll also have to buy ticket between Switzerland and Austria to and fro as I've to fly back from Switzerland?
Can these passes be used in local buses also?

the swiss pass is the most recommendable. Trains in switzerland are very expensive there; the staion clerks are very friendly and will help to find the cheapest way for you.
It's most likley gonna be the Rail Pass

There are so many passes available, it can be a little confusing. I wouldn't recommend a Swiss Pass, because it's only good for travel in Switzerland.

And I'm not sure about Inter-Rail...but, according to their website, you must be a resident of Europe for at least 6 months, which is OK if you are in the UK...and if you are only seeing 2 countries, it might not be the best option.

I suggest you consider the "EURAIL Austria-Switzerland Pass", which is available for travel from 4-10 days within a two month period...I'm not sure of how much it costs, though.
Each country also have their own passes, and if you were travelling to 3 countries your best option would be the Eurail SelectPass.
Rail travel is expensive, especially in Switzerland...but if you are only travelling a short distance between stops, sometimes it can actually be cheaper to buy a point to point ticket.

You should plan your travel route first, so you can then determine which type of tickets or passes would be the best and cheaper option.
Good luck...you will love Switzerland and Austria.
Don't miss Lucerne, Switzerland...and Salzburg & Vienna in Austria.
