Switzerland is a Confederation - the official name of Switzerland is Confoederatio Helvetica hence the "CH" bumper stickers you see on some Swiss Cars. On the other hand, Belgium is not a Confederation: as a matter of fact Belgium is a Constitutional Monarchy (there is a King but he is virtually powerless) - apart from the Iroquois Confederacy in the USA (which is not really a country) there are not any there Confederations that I could find out about. |

Switzerland...official name, CONFEDERACIÓN HELVÉTICA, is a confederation (of cantons, just fyi).
I don't know any others. maybe if you searched "confederations" you might find something...Might have to wade through some junk to get what you are looking for, though. |

belgium and switzerland are confederations, the USA is also a confederation.
by that it means it is a federation of various states. isn't the central bank called the federal reserve, and all government organizations start with Federal, like FDA, FCC, FBI, therefore, the USA are also a confederation. |
