All of the above are true but it is not impossible. I have lots of Swiss friends, many of them Swiss German. The Swiss tend to be standoffish towards foreigners because more and more are coming here and taking away (and sometimes destroying) their little peaceful island in the world. But they don't hate foreigners. Also, if you are from the US, Canada, Western Europe or Australia/NewZealand, it's easier to be accepted. However, if you come here and try to keep life the way it is at home, or if you don't try to learn the language, you'll have a harder time making friends. But there ARE lots of Swiss who are interested in the world beyond their borders and who would like to meet foreigners.
