Is it worth going on a holiday to Switzerland in December 1st week?

For skiing, no.
That time of year I might actually recommend the cities, because the weather is not likely to be pleasant (but more likely rain than snow even in the mountains, I think).
If you had to choose a place to go then, or a time to go there, I'd say no. But if someone offers you a free trip, don't turn it down!

born and raise there, I can tell you this is not really a good idea to visit Switzerland (nor other countries around it) due to the unpredictable weather at the time of the year.
Last week of December and the 1st week of January, since it is the Holidays, would be a lot better, especially in the cities (X-mas decorations, maybe snow).

you're probably not going to see snow, even high up in the alpine towns. i'd suggest maybe mid-december to christmas... i went last year at that time, and it wasn't so bad. there were some tourists, but mostly locals. and even the resort towns like Wengen wasn't all that crowded; it was still very quiet and quaint. i did get lucky last year though, because it snowed 20 inches the weekend before. the other thing is that the Christmas markets will be all set up by that time.

Lonestar
Yes, but do not go when all of the tourist are around, you get to see the true Switzerland that way.

It depends what you'd like to see and do. If you want to go skiing, then december isn't the month (not enough snow) Instead I'd recommend march.

If you'd like to hike and be in nature a lot it also isn't the right time of year. (to cold and rainy, perhaps ice or snow)

If you'd like to see some cities it's ok to come in December. Just keep in mind that it gets dark early in the evening and most likely it will be cold.

The best time to visit switzerland is may, june or september.
