Ibach I have only driven through not stayed, but that is on the edge of Baden-Wüttemberg in part of the Black forest, not far the lovely town of Donaueschingen , The source of the Danube a lovely sight of the Danube coming up out of the ground in an open pool which is walled off like a large well. Ibach is a quiet little town I think only 400 .inhabitants you would be able to horse ride and walk there. I would think a car would be needed to visit the lovely places since it is off major bus routes not many would visit there in a day and you would have to change buses a lot to get to the trains or major routes.but as most of Baden-Wüttemburg yes friendly with what is called Swabian accent, If you speak German takes a bit of getting used too. Swabian food I like very much, a bit similar to Austrian, you also have the river Rhine not far away since the both rivers start in the same mountain, The Rhine runs of the mountain one side and the Danube the other. here is a lovely inn marking this advent, with very good food, The drain pipes of one side of the roof drain to the Danube and the other side the Rhine. The Danube then runs underground in small streams and surfaces in that spring in Danueschingen. The lake Constance is nearby (Bodensee) in German. Which is well worth a visit it boarders Switzerland, Austria. Some times of the year you can see great firework displays there. I am lucky my wife's school friend and husband has a summer apartment in one of the small towns on the edge of Bodensee near Friedrichshafen so we can either stay on our own or with them when they come from near Ulm where they live. If you come there Stuttgart is well worth a visit for the day. as well as taking a trip down part of the Rhine in a boat not to be missed as the small towns and castles in the mountains on the Rhine are just lovely to see summer or winter. Plus you can't miss some of the wine and the hot punch in winter, near Christmas then you have the Christmas markets in the towns Friedrichshafen ,Stuttgart with it's ice skating ring in the city centre in the cold weather with hot chestnuts and hot punch and of course Swabian sausages in the best bread ever. You will also find most people would be glad to speak English to you. I found using my German very hard in this part of Germany. since most love to show off their English. so make sure your English is good otherwise they can teach you good English. |
