100k is definitely a sufficient salary for both of you to live off of, no matter where in Switzerland you live.
Depending on which city, and if you live in a city center or just outside will, of course, dictate your living costs for and apartment.
Also, depending on where you are from (U.S. or an EU nation) will dictate how easily you find a job. EU citizens have an easier time than other foreigners to get employment, but you should have a special skill or speak the language of the region you are moving. (German, Italian, or French respectively. Romansh is not widely used in Switzerland.)
If you don't have either of these things one option is to take an intensive language course while you are there. Another option is teaching English privately. These are only two suggestions and there are other options for you.
Now as for living costs, as I said it depends which region and your proximity to the city center but for an example my boyfriend lives in a very nice part of Zurich just outside the city center and pays 1300 CHF a month for a large 1 bedroom. He also has his allotted space in the basement and a parking space in the garage. He is a block from the train that takes him 8 minutes to get to the center of the city. So if you are from somewhere like NYC or L.A. the prices are comparable.
The first link below will give you more info on finding employment in CH and the other two will provide you with more general information about the country so you can familiarize yourself with it.
It is really a beautiful place to live and many foreigners that to to live there are more than happy with their decision.
Good luck and enjoy the adventure! |

100'000 CHF is certainly enough to live a good life in Switzerland. The Swiss avarage is around 75'000 CHF per year. |

100'000CHF is about £50'000 so it is very good pay indeed, take the job! |

To be completely honest, Switzerland is, in general, a very expensive place. Where is your husband going to be working? Some cities are more expensive than others especially Geneva. 100,000 CHF is just about enough to sustain you both...depending on which city he will be working in.
Are you swiss? The problem in Swizterland is that unless you have the nationality, it is really difficult to get a job. There is a law that forces them to favor their own citizens above other nationalities and plus Switzerland is almost at full employment. Presumably, your husband (also a foreigner?) has been offered a specialized job that requires his skills that no swiss have mastered.
I don't want to pop your bubble of hope, but it is most unlikely that you won't find a job unless you are also specialized in a certain field. Also, language is a huge barrier here. Depending on the area, fluency of either french, german or italian is needed as well as knowledge of the other 2. Unfortunately, english is simply a nice bonus but does not add to your appeal when applying for a job. You should not expect to have a job as soon as you get there. It takes time...a lot of time...average range would probably be 8-12 months.
Living costs are quite high in Switzerland (varies according to city...but in general, quite expensive) and a 2 bedroom apartment can be quite costly depending on the neighborhood.
I don't mean to worry you further, but i just thought you'd want a realistic answer. Your husband's salary will not provide a luxurious life but will definately not make you below line of poverty! It will be fine and plus Switzerland is a beautiful country. Although financial issues may exist, the view makes up for all :) |
