If you just stay in that part of Switzerland (Ticino) then you are ok only with Italian.
Most Swiss speak English as well, so if you move outsite the Ticino region you will be able to go along with English easily. |

The main language in Lugano is italian. Lugano is in the italian part of Switzerland, called Ticino. They do understand some english there, specially at the hotels or stores. I myself worked for 2 years in Locarno, which is South of Lugano, right by the Lago Maggiore. A beautiful area were you most deffinitly should stop in when you are there ;) |
