Switzerland has stricter controls than the rest of Europe. If the person has not been married before it will be easier. But all document will have to be legally translated into German or French. depends on the area and local regulations. If the person is married to some one else, then that is not legal in this part of Europe . and will be arrested and sent back to the States with a ban, which could include most of Europe, or at least the German speaking parts and French. Even when the person get divorced there are problems and big expense with documents. for both to return to Switzerland.

First of all, Bigotry and bigamy are two completely different things.
Swiss officials will not allow her to marry the Swiss citizen if she is already married in the United States. This will most likely be seen as fraud as bigamy is illegal in Switzerland as well.

I recommend your friend not to do it. She has to get divorced before getting married to another guy. When coming to Switzerland, she can get into a legal problem, and that's a problem that won't be easy to solve.

Wow! Ummm, I guess if the Swiss gov doesn't know she is married in the States she could marry the guy. But how do you juggle 2 husbands that are half-way across the globe from each other?
