One week stay in Lucerne, Switzerland, me and my wife are planning to stay at Lucern for a week .? |
Just wanted to know if making Lucerne the home base is better or interlaken. We are looking it to use the trains to visit the different cities in the morning and back in the evening at lucerne.
Which cities are recommended to visit via train.
What sort of temperature can we expect is late Jun.
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

It depends on what you want to be seeing while you are there. I enjoy Interlaken as it is in the middle of two picturesque lakes and it lets you take the train up the valley towards Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald.
That said, it depends on what you want to see. If you like seeing cities, then Lucerne is well situated to get to most of them. If you prefer nature, Interlaken is more in the mountains and, in my opinion, is therefore more picturesque. |

I'd pick Luzern since you are quite fast anywhere in Switzerland.
Cities: Zürich,Bern,Lugano,Lausanne etc.
The weather should be fine (hopefully) around 25 to 30 Celcius.

Visiting Switzerland for the cities is right up there with visiting Berlin for the landscape or London for the sunshine.
Lucerne is nicer than Interlaken for sure, but I'd stay somewhere like Spiez or Bergun. |
