Switzerland is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I was there last Spring. I was mostly in Geneva and there are many things to see there like the Jet d'Eau in Lake Geneva (you can't miss it, its a large fountain and the citys most famous landmark). You should also see St. Pierre Cathedral. I believe it has 175 stairs to the top (long way, but you can see the city from the top). If you go to Lausanne, you should see the Olympic Museum. Where ever you go you are going to find many places to eat and you should eat at every place because its good!!
Have fun!

I would recommend to start out in Geneva since there is an airport then slowly make your way across the country taking trains and going on hikes. So if you look on a map you stay in Geneva for a couple of days then go to Lausanne and then Montreux. Take a train to Interlaken and go to the Jungfrau. Go to Bern and stay for a couple days since there is a lot to see. After Bern go to Lucerne and then to Zurich to take a plane back home.

James has some good suggestions but I would add Gstaad ot St. Moritz. Gorgeous in the summer and world class skiing in winter. Maybe Gruyere to see where the cheeses are made.

I would advise you to go to Monte Pilatus in Luzern. It is a dream to start with.
All places in Switzerland are a dream and if I were you I would try to stick to the best known and enjoy the typical food and trying to get acquainted in many languages and not only english.
Lots of affection,
