Skiing near Geneva? |
I'm thinking of taking my wife for a few days skiing in early February as Easyjet have some good deals on. We're only looking to ski for 3 days and would like to go to a resort that is not too difficult (lots of blues!). Most of the resorts seem miles away and unless part of a package deal it seems very expensive to get from the airport. Can anyone recommend any resorts that have short bus (or train) transfers from Geneva airport that would provide nice easy skiing.
Thanks in advance. |

Hi !
I'm living in France, near Geneva. For me, the more close of this city is the Jura. You can skiing in les Rousses, or les Monts Jura. Just, I'm not sure it exists to go here...
If not, you continue by train (the station is called "Les eaux-Vives") until Thonon les Bains, and you take a bus for Chatel or les Gets. It's in french Alpen, not so big ski stations, but really nice.
Have a good trip ! |

Try the Chamonix area. There are buses from Cointrin. (about 3 hrs drive).
If you want to ski in Switzerland: Les Diablerets, Crans-Montana.
Zermatt is 3 1/2 hr train from Geneva, or even Saas Fee, which is a skier dream. (Take the train at the airport, direction Brig. Get off at Visp for either villages - train to Zermatt or postal bus to Saas Fee) |

Les Rousses, Lelex or Premanon are all within one hours drive from Geneva. A taxi ride away, or a hire car for a few days.
I suspect there are bus transfers, but not from the airport.
You must try some of the yellow Jura wine as well. If you go there, let me know if it was good. |
